Lazy summers are here!! The time is perfect for skipping going outdoors and avoid harsh sun. You can stay indoors and binge watch friends or catch up on something long due. Amidst all this chilling and relaxing, you must not forget that this is also the time to spend on some home maintenance before you start feeling the wrath of the sun. We are saving you some time, effort and headache of making a list of the to-do list for summer home maintenance activities. Have a look at the of the most obvious things you need to check at your home.
1) Air Conditioning
Before anything else, Air Conditioner takes the first place on our list. Make sure you get your AC serviced right in time. So as not to face the burn of summer heat. Pick up the phone now and make a call to the service guys.
Make sure you get the gas levels (refrigerant) checked, get the air filters cleaned or replaced as needed. This is a prerequisite for home maintenance during summers.
2) Check the Windows
Unless you haven’t opened the window intentionally, you do not want the inside air to go out and outside air to come in. You do not want the cracks and leaks in the windows to get the summer loo inside the home and hamper the cool air conditioning.
Regular inspection of windows from inside and outside is advisable. Doing some small repairs yourself like fixing the sealants or taking care of weather-worn outs. This would make the home look good and well maintained. Also, it would help stay cool in summers and warm in winters.
3) Roof check
Roofs should always be kept clean and tidy. Home maintenance without cleaning the rooftops is a half-done job. In summers you should check the roof especially for any leaks and cracks as they are easy to spot. This would also help you get prepared for the rainy season beforehand. Debris kept on rooftops can shelter many insects like bees, wasps, lizards and fireflies, and they tend to make hives, which can be dangerous to get rid of later.
4) Washing the exterior of your home
People across the internet recommend washing the exterior walls for home maintenance. It helps get rid of dust stains and dirt, some mildew or algae. It seems like a tedious task. Honestly, we haven’t tried washing. So, if you do wash your home exterior do let us know how did it help?
5) Clean gutters With summers the water usage also increases. Needless to say, you don’t want to run into water clogging problem. So, make a routine of getting the gutters cleaned twice or thrice every year. Maybe once in summers and once during winters. This would also prevent the chances of viruses, infections, pests entering the homes.
