Owning a home gives you the luxury to design your own backyard. The decor and vibe of the backyard should soak in the vibe of the interior design of the home altogether. A backyard opens up multiple options for designing and leaves you in a confused state. What you can start with is growing lush green plants in the backyard, pot some flowering plants, some seasonal ones too!!

Then set up a seating area. To give a natural look, simple and clean wooden furniture is preferred. Pair this furniture with bold and punk cushions to give a lively feel to the whole space.

  1. The Back party

All you need is good lighting so make sure you have enough bulbs and fairy lights because you do not want the pictures to be dull. You may have ample of chairs, but adding some cool rugs would create a warm ambience. Lush green beauties are but obvious.

For the oh-so urban look, cozy woods or organic furniture pieces are good to start with. Complement the wooden furniture with neutral-colored textures. Add the green punch with beautiful plant pots which can be fixed on walls, hung from the ceiling or simply placed on the floor.

  1. The old school backyard

You can have a little kitchen garden in your backyard. Grow some herbs, some vegetables and anything you want. Bask upon the forever loved roses and lilies. Grow a hedge on the periphery. Have a lemon plant and use the fresh herbs and lemon to season your salads or garnish your dishes. Maintaining a kitchen garden can be tricky at times, but a little care daily and your garden will bloom. Moreover, for a kitchen garden, you need not have an elaborate ‘interior design style’ agenda beforehand, because it is naturally beautiful.

We have a beautiful tall ironbark stump in our Ivanhoe East backyard, which we would like a skilled artist to carve. Do you have a recommended list or other suggestions as to how we could find the right person?

    Hi
Thank you so much for the interaction. We operate in India – but if you mail us some pictures of the area that you want to design for, we could mail you some suggestions for design ideas, which you could get implemented by a local person.
Looking forward to hearing from you
